Hét Vezér Apartmanhotel Sights Fortresses
Walking along and admiring the intricate wall carvings, bastions fashioned from carved stones and 3 km long system of casemates as the sunlight filters in upon them is a unique experience. The ramparts dotted with the flower of the battle-field, the corn-poppies are no less impressive during the spring than the snow covered country yard during winter. The Danube gleams in the sunlight while the water laps at the foot of the Danube Bastion.

The new renovated Fort Star will be from 2020 an important sight in Komárom. Construction works on the fortress were commenced in 1568, under the command of Captain General Miklós Pálffy. By the summer of 1586 the barbicans with a capacity to receive 100 horsemen each had been completed. Their preliminary tasks involved protecting the central fortress from hit-raids, to block ship traffic on the river, to defend the existing bridge and any future pontoon bridges from attack and to serve as base eventual mounted raids against attackers.
The erection of Fort Igmánd, the most recent member of the fortification system situated the farthest south, was commenced in 1871. The fortress was equipped with the widest possible forefront, this ensuring that the number of cannons and guns facing the enemy at the same time was maximized.
