Szent Pál Island

Szent Pál Island is a really romantic island region of the Danube with willow and popular foodplain groves, abandonned orchars, huge meadows. It is a popular destination from the nearby holiday resort Koppánymonostor, a popular fishing paradise, but people in water tours prefer the island as well for taking a rest.

Danube

The Danube is the "most international" river in the world. Several significant settlements are located along its banks, among them four current capital cities: Vienna, Bratislava, Budapest and Belgrade. The curtural heritage and unique nature of region attract a lot of tourists. Among the natural treasures of Komárom can be found the Szent-Pál Island and the Szőnyi-Islands. The Szőnyi-Islands were formed after the Danube river control, from the beginning of the 1880's. Later on the nature took the control back, and the unique nature value with its vegetation and wildlife has returned.

Lake Rüdiger

The beloved relaxing and fishing spot of the town, the creation of which is related primarily to the fortress contructions of the 19th century. As the good quality material for the nearby brick-burner was extracted from here, and also the soil for the entrenchments of Fort Igmánd was brought there from here. Three smaller islands make the scenery of the lake more versatile. The lake was named after its former owner, the Rüdiger family.
